Featuring Special Music By ...

Oakland-East Bay Gay Men's Chorus is the 40 to 50 voice gay men's chorus that performs a wide variety of music, from Classical to Broadway, in three seasonal and numerous church, community and outreach performances every year. OEBGMC is the most active and well known Gay Arts organization in the Oakland and East Bay region of California. Centrally located in Oakland, it serves many communities, with members from San Jose to Napa.

Named the "Official Band of San Francisco" in honor of its 25th anniversary, the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band is the first openly gay musical organization in the world, inspiring the formation of gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender/ intersex/questioning/queer bands, choruses and performing groups around the globe. Founded in 1978 by Jon Sims at the height of Anita Bryant's anti-gay crusade, the Band has made music to build understanding between gay and non-gay communities for more than two decades.

Pastor Christian Jennert of St. Mark's Lutheran Church will be playing a special piece on his oboe.

Rebecca Wu will be singing the music of Hildegard von Bingen.

Dr. Timothy Zerlang is the Director of Music at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. On September 1, Dr. Zerlang joined the St. Mark's staff after 25 years at Grace Lutheran in Palo Alto. He received his Bachelors and Masters in Music Performance from CSU Fresno, and his Doctor of Musical Arts from Stanford University, where he continues to be a lecturer in piano and carillon. He has performed on organ, piano, and carillon, and has served as Executive Director of the El Camino Youth Symphony and the Fremont Symphony Orchestra. Tim is excited to join our community, and we are grateful that he will be bringing his extraordinary musical gifts to St. Mark’s.
